N arcoossee, a community in Osceola County, Florida, is located northeast of St Cloud, on the eastern shore of East Lake Tohopekaliga, also known as East Lake Toho, along state Highway 15 (Narcoossee Road) between Highway 192 to the south and Boggy Creek Road to the north. Narcoossee is older than St Cloud and Kissimmee. The history of Narcoossee is often over-shadowed by the history of its close neighbors; St Cloud, Kissimmee and Orlando. As far as I have been able to find out, Narcoossee is an Indian Creek word meaning "Little Bear".
This topic is the outcome of helping Chrishonda Paul, a 6th grade student at Narcoossee Community School, in February 2000, with her "Narcoossee - A Town with History", project.
